Chairs June Newsletter
May I start by welcoming our new members Darrin Kent. Elizabeth Hoyos De Kent, Julian Powell and Stuart Callister.
June has started well with several successful Worcestershire Ambassadors events starting with ladies Race Day, thanks to Tracey Hopkins for hosting that, I know she has already booked a table for next year.
Families day at West Midland Safari Park was amazing. We distributed £15000 worth of tickets to families affected by Mental Health issues So many people saying thanks “Worcestershire Ambassadors”, it was quite humbling, we have already set a date for 2020.

Vince Hopkins then led on the OneWorcestershire launch on Monday at Blackfinch New Road, 126 Ambassadors were in attendance, an amazing turn out, if you haven’t had a chance to look at our version of the film produced by DRPG.
The 23rd saw our Annual day with Severn Valley Railway, Members enjoyed Sunday lunch the weather was kind to us, we are so lucky having attractions like this in our wonderful county.
Thanks to everyone at SVR and Tracey Hopkins for making this a great afternoon.
On the 25th we had a successful Business show case on Cyber Security and Digital Technology at Borwells at the Malvern Hills Science Park.
Thanks to Steve and Andrea Borwell-Fox for hosting an excellent event in their offices which saw 30 Ambassadors learn about the work they undertake.
Thanks to Vince Hopkins for arranging this, our next showcase is at the revamped Hartlebury Castle on 4th September, aiming to become our 3rdbiggest tourist attraction it’s an opportunity to see what they have done including some Harry Potter style moving pictures. Tickets are free and available through our website.
June also saw One of our Charities Worcester Community Trust hold a successful Fun Run which Ambassador Steve Descher compared and encouraged the 200 runners to complete the course. The event made £1300 for them.
July starts with Street cricket two teams of Ambassadors will be joining in the fun on the 1st July in the High Street from 1pm
New Directors opportunities
With the introduction of tenure of Board positions, we now have some vacancies for members to join the board of Worcestershire Ambassadors.
2020 is our 20th Anniversary and will see a year of celebration ,so we are especially seeking people who can organise, market and sell tickets for our events.
We need people with a good network who are well established within the community. You must have the leadership skills to help achieve our objectives and experience of working successfully as part of a team delivering results.
Directors are initially appointed for a three year term and are expected to lead on events and campaigns, being measured against key performance and attendance data. The board meets monthly however business is also conducted electronically.

Directors are elected by the board and are responsible to the membership of Worcestershire
This is a voluntary role.
Directors must act with honesty and integrity, in what they believe to be, in the best interests of Worcestershire Ambassadors Ltd and with such care as may be reasonably expected of them in all circumstances.
- To ensure Worcestershire Ambassadors Ltd comply with any legal obligations required by law.
- To ensure Worcestershire Ambassadors Ltd comply with its own constitution and purpose.
- To promote the aims and objectives of Worcestershire Ambassadors Ltd.
- To encourage the membership of Worcestershire Ambassadors Ltd to assist in the arrangement of events run in the name of “Worcestershire Ambassadors”
- Directors of the Board will be expected not to miss 25% of Board meetings in any calendar year in default of which their position will be reviewed by the Board. Consideration will be given to Welfare or health issues. The Board will review their suitability to remain in position and a majority vote taken.
- To attend at least three events organised in a Calendar year by the Worcestershire Ambassadors.
- To be able to assist the Chair, in attending, by agreement, functions or events to represent Worcestershire Ambassadors Ltd.
- Have full responsibility for the financial health of Worcestershire Ambassadors Ltd
- Directors will serve a maximum of 3 years and then go through the reelection process. Process attached in Appendix A.

Interviews will be held at a mutually convenient time in August.

Future Ambassadors events

On Tuesday 10th September we have our Annual race day like the cricket day is an ideal opportunity to meet up with other Ambassadors whilst enjoying in this case the racing at this beautiful course.
We have exclusive use of our own room, the day starts with a Drinks reception 11am, Lunch is served at 12, then the Racing starts at 2.40pm the last race is at 5.30pm.
The Racecourse really do look after us, the food is lovely, betting is of course optional, and we have our own cash bar.
Like the cricket day this is traditionally a great day at one of the Counties top sporting attractions. Tickets are £78 and include entrance to the course.
Wednesday 18th September sees our Annual golf day, please join us in the lovely surroundings of Ombersley Golf Club, £324 a team includes hole sponsorship.
Starting with Coffee and Bacon rolls at 11.30, we start to tee off from 12 noon. The Carvery starts from 5.15pm with the presentations at 7.15pm. This is a stableford competition, with a maximum handicap allowance, we have the nearest the pin, longest drive and a beat the pro competitions to keep the day interesting.
Thursday 26th September we are holding a Lunch at Hogarths Stone Manor.12 noon drinks reception followed by a Three Course lunch.
The speakers will be Worcester born Paralympian Mel Nicholls who completed in London 2012. You may have seen her recently on the News undertaking to break the world record to cycle John O’Groats to lands’ end. Mel will be joined by Worcestershire Ambassador John Peters the former RAF pilot who became a Prisoner of War in the first gulf War. Now a successful businessman John travels the world to tell his story of how he coped with the brutal physical and mental pressure inflicted upon him. Johns story is both inspiring and motivating. Tickets are £41.
2019 Annual Ball – 4th October.
This event has now sold out thank you for supporting it. A waiting list registration ticket is now in place on the website.
Due to the success of this event any outstanding payment from 1st August will result in tickets being released to the waiting list.
On Saturday 13th July the Chateau Impney Hotel are holding a dinner at this iconic Worcestershire venue, Ambassador Andrew Johns is offering us the opportunity to join them at this occasion giving you the unique opportunity to meet the drivers and competitors who have spent the day racing around the hill there.
The offer includes: A Three Course Dinner and entertainment.
A table for 12 people is £900 or individual seats can be purchased at £75pp
