I hope you continue to enjoy the wonderful weather we have been blessed with this summer. Whether you have been on annual leave or about to go it always seems much easier to get back on track with everyday life when the weather is so glorious.
The last few weeks has seen a variety of events taking place across the county from the third successful Street Sixes challenge to Chris Jaeger’s Worcester Live performance of ”The Hounds of the Baskervilles. in the gardens of the Commandery at Worcester..
Worcester Stands Tall
The arrival of 57 Stunningly painted giraffes has brought thousands of people flocking into the city to trek the trail of this wonderful exhibition led by Tricia Cavell of St Richard’s Hospice. If you haven’t already been on the trail it really is worth doing. Look out for the Ambassadors Giraffe “The Giraffe who’s gone to a happy place” in memory of Derek Fradgley which stands proudly on the riverbank on the opposite side of the Cathedral.
50K Thames Challenge
With St Richard’s Hospice in mind the Worcestershire Ambassadors Amazing Adventurers team of 50 walkers are now gearing up for the final event on September 8th.
Training has been in full force with regular walks over the past few months to build those kilometers up. The majority of walkers are now able to complete at least 30K in one stretch. Keep an eye on social media as members of the group relay their own personal reasons why they wish to complete the 50K Thames Challenge for St Richard’s build 2020 Campaign.
Fundraising is starting to gain momentum and we have hit £17,500 of our £50,000 target. I know many of you knew Derek Fradgley well and I am hoping you will make a donation in his memory.
There are 2 ways to donate:-
1. Send a cheque payable to St Richards Hospice to Tracey Hopkins 232 Holly Hedges, Malvern Road, St Johns, Worcester
2. Via Just Giving by clicking on the attached link. https://www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/strichards/worcestershireambassadorsamazingadventurers
The Handelsbanken have a team of 6 walking in memory of their late colleague Alison Hewitt and the Branches first customer which was Derek Fradgley.
To help with fundraising they invite you to join them when they take over Browns at the Quay for the evening of 4th September. I myself will be head chef for the evening and will be preparing a curry whilst the other members of the team will be serving on the bar and waiting on the tables. It should be a fun evening.

Street Sixes Competition
Last month 18 teams took to Worcester High Street to compete in this year’s Street Sixes to help raise funds to bring cricket to the community for disadvantaged children.
Sponsored by the Worcestershire Ambassadors and led by Tom Hill of Worcestershire County Cricket Board, local businesses from the community joined up to battle out softball cricket in very warm conditions. This was followed by an after party at the Hick Pavilion. The Worcestershire Ambassadors Lions made it through to the finals but lost in the first round. Alas the Worcestershire Ambassador Lioness fell at the first hurdle!!
Congratulations to Ben Manion Director of Hewett Recruitment and Jim McBride of Lesk Engineering for completing the gruelling River Severn challenge from mid Wales to Chepstow in support of Megan Baker House.
