Our History

2000: Worcestershire County Council formed the Worcestershire Ambassadors. Membership was free to all that wanted to promote the County.

2003: First Charity Ball held at Witley Court.

2004: Worcestershire County Council hand over control to the membership; Ivan Knezovich becomes the first Chair. Charity Ball held at Chateau Impney raising £6,520 for Noah’s Ark Trust. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Jeannie Young.

2005: Charity Ball held at Witley Court raising £6,315 for St Richard’s Hospice. Membership Fee of £100 introduced. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Ivan Knezovich.

2006:  Charity Ball held at Sixways raising £7,430 for Acorns Hospice. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Cecil Duckworth.

2007: Charity Ball held at Sixways raising £20,810 for The Prince’s Trust. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to David Green.

2008: Charity Ball held at The Heath Hotel Bewdley raising £21,000 for the Worcestershire Community Foundation and £2,500 for the Walk like a Warrior Youth Scheme. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to the Late Michael Brinton OBE.

2009: Chair taken over by Louise Hewett. Charity Ball held at Treetops raising £23,000. £10500 for St Richards Hospice, £9000 for Kemp Hospice and £3500 for Primrose Hospice. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Dr Geoff Parker.

2010: Charity Ball held at Treetops raising £7,775 each for St Richard’s Hospice and Kemp Hospice and £2,775 to Primrose Hospice. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Louise Hewett.

2011: Chair taken over by Phil Dutton. Charity Ball held at Treetops raising £50,000 for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign Trust. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Paul West and Pat Sanderson. Worcestershire Ambassadors of the Year Award presented to the Late Derek Fradgley and Mike Ashton.

2012: First Trade Mission to China led by Phil Dutton visiting Guangzhou  Hezhou and Nanning. Charity Ball held at Treetops raising £35,000 for St Paul’s Hostel and £15,000 for Worcestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre. Became a Company Limited by Guarantee. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to David Baxter Smith. Worcestershire Ambassador of the Year Award presented to Phil Dutton.

2013: Chair taken over by Granville Orange. Charity Ball held at Treetops raising £35,000 for New Hope Charity. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Mick Donavan. Ambassador of the Year presented to  David Green. First Inward Trade Mission from Hezhou hosted in Worcestershire.

2014: Charity Ball held at Treetops raising £40,000 for charities. Onside, Worcester Live and Spectrum Days. Second Trade Mission to China Lead by Phil Dutton to Guangzhou, Hezhou and Huizhou.  Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Dale Parmenter. Worcestershire Ambassador of the Year presented to Phil Dutton and Frankie Tsang.

2015: Vince Hopkins takes over as Chair. Charity Ball raises £55,000 for Rory the Robot Prostate Surgical Machine and Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Awareness Group. Worcester signs Friendship City Agreement with Hezhou. £10,000 donated in sponsorship to events promoting the Worcestershire.

2016: ‘Rule Britannia’ Charity Ball raises in excess of £52,000 for ‘Worcestershire Community Foundation,’ 3rd Chinese Delegation from Hezhou consisting of Business Delegates arrives in Worcestershire. The Ambassadors organises 40 Business to Business Meetings in the County. Pride of Worcestershire Award presented to Tracey Hopkins and Judy Owen. £20, 000 donated to sponsorship to events promoting Worcestershire.

2017: Charity Ball raises £55,000. Sir Ian Botham Evening raises £30,000. £60,000 donated to ‘Rory the Robot Appeal’ £15,000 donated to ‘Worcestershire Prostrate Cancer Awareness Group’ and £20,000 donated to St Richards Hospice in Partnership with ‘Worcester Stands Tall’ Giraffe Trail 2018.

2018: Chair taken over by Phil Dutton.
